Meet the New Owners of Dutch's Trading Post

Purchased in November, 2011, by Gary and Rose Boyke of Fond du Lac, the retail sporting goods business is a new venture for the Boyke’s, who also own and operate Vir-Clar Farms in southeast Fond du Lac County.

When the opportunity to purchase Dutch’s became available, Gary felt that the“Dutch’s” brand was an important part of the downtown community. He wanted the store to remain a locally-run sporting goods store with knowledgeable employees who have a passion for hunting and fishing.

Similar to their family-run dairy operation, Dutch’s is also a family-run business for the Boyke’s. Gary and Rose’s brother-in-law, Dave“Tuffy” Munson, serves as the Store Manager and oversees the daily operations while their daughter, Tiffany, oversees the business and financial end of the business.

To better serve their customers, Dutch’s has brought back their top-of-the-line archery department, filled with a large selection of 2012 bows by Mathew’s, Mission and Hoyt. Munson said that moving the archery department gives the store an opportunity to expand the gun department to include more hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns. Handguns have become a popular item with the new concealed carry laws now in effect. The store also has an extensive fishing department and sells live bait.

With something to offer every outdoorsman, Dutch’s hopes to remain a staple in the downtown Fond du Lac community for many years to come. Gary believes “Dutch’s isn’t just a place to buy your hunting or fishing gear, it’s a place where people can share their enthusiasm for the great outdoors.”
